Carnaby Rise Primary School is located in Landsdale surrounded by natural bushland. The facilities are state of the art and are based on an ecologically sustainable design principle with an emphasis on reducing energy consumption. The school is built to cater for 430 students with the capability to increase this through the use of portable classrooms.
The buildings include an Early Education Learning area with a naturescape playground where our young students can explore and imagine within a natural environment. The remainder of the school consists of three teaching blocks with four classrooms per block and a common learning area that can be used for creative activities and large group work. Twelve transportable's have now been added to the school to accommodate our growing numbers. One of the teaching blocks consists of a multipurpose room that can be used for the purposes of science or art as it is equipped with a kiln.
The undercover area has a specialist music room attached as well as the canteen which is capable of catering to large groups. It is equipped with a PA system and projector screen for assemblies and special events.
At the heart of our school is the library that is stocked with an assortment of fiction and non-fiction books that are of high interest to all students. This fantastic space has been configured to allow students to enjoy the solitude of reading while also providing an opportunity to be creative in the maker space area.
A weekly library visit will be incorporated into the class timetable. Students are welcome to exchange books and use the library outside of their allocated class time. The library will also be open at lunchtimes.
Students from Kindy to Year 2 will be able to borrow 2 books and Year 3-6 may borrow 3 books. Extra items can be loaned by arrangement with Mrs Moore, the library officer. To ensure care for borrowed books, students will need to bring their library bag for borrowing.
The grounds of Carnaby Rise Primary School include a multi-purpose hard court area that has line markings for netball, tennis and basketball. The oval is a shared community space with AFL goals and cricket nets. The garden has been landscaped with flora native to the area and although Carnaby Rise Primary School is a multi-level site it is completely wheelchair accessible.
